Our mission is to ensure that every business is aware of its total Greenhouse Gas Emissions, and what it can do to improve its environmental and economic performance as a result of this specialised knowledge. We will work with you to quantify your emissions through the completion of a Life Cycle Assessment and support you on your journey to Net Zero.

Dr Les Strezov is the chief scientist of Carbon LCA Certified.

He heads a tight-knit team of professionals from a wide range of disciplines including, science, health, law, accounting, finance, media and marketing. These wide range of skills allow us to produce a comprehensive and well rounded product which encompasses environmental, economic, legal and financial perspectives. With this interdisciplinary and entrepreneurial perspective, we are able to provide businesses with affordable and achievable sustainability solutions.

We provide professional services in a wide range of industry sectors, ranging from heavy industry to light industrial and services industries. For example, our two most recent projects were one for magnetite mining in Western Australia, the other a boutique medical practice at the Gold Coast Queensland.

The team is supported by our international associates at Main GmbH Zurich, Switzerland for steel industry related LCAs and other assignments in Europe and Asia.

Meet our Chief Scientist.

Dr Les Strezov

Doctorate in Materials Engineering from the University of Newcastle, Australia.

  • Expert in mathematical modelling of complex industrial processes, biomass to renewable energy, and Life Cycle Assessment of industrial processes and products. Extensive experience providing specialised LCA support to large companies such as BHP, Rio Tinto, Orica, Bluescope Steel, OneSteel, Smorgon, Tomago Aluminium, Lorex Oil Refining and many others.

  • Over 30 years experience in managing R&D Projects, delivering new innovative technologies and operational improvements in high temperature processing of minerals and metals industry, and biomass conversion to renewable energy.

  • Extensive experience in developing R&D portfolio strategies and IP, leading and developing R&D projects and teams.

  • Previous head of high temperature research for BHP Billiton globally.

  • LCA Expert in the Centre for Sustainable Technology at Newcastle University Australia.

  • Founding Director and Chief Scientist for the Crucible Group.

  • Achievements

    Dr Strezov published over 100 technical publications in refereed journals and conferences.

    Inventor of 28 patents in the areas of continuous casting, electrolytic reduction cells, titanium production and biomass to renewable energy processes.

    Has provided specialised technical consulting for large companies including BHP, Bluescope Steel, OneSteel, Smorgon Steel, Orica, Boral, Dow Corning, TECH Resources, Tomago Aluminium and various national and international government bodies and Institutions.

    Serving on many Technical Advisory Boards including Dow Corning Netherlands, CISR Carnegie Mellon US, McGill Canada and others.

    • 2010 Engineers Australia Bradfield Innovation and Excellence Awards

    • the James Brody Award from Engineers Australia

    • the inaugural BHP Best Research Award and internationally,

    • the Sawamura Award, from the International Steel Institute of Japan in recognition for best scientific publication in Iron and Steel in 1998.
